The Mansion at Bald Hill Wedding

Weddings

Alex: “Eric and I went on a hike at Mohonk Mountain with my family for my moms birthday. We always all get together for birthdays so I thought nothing else of it. We were all together laughing, giggling and taking pictures like us sisters do when we are together, which in hindsight made me miss all of the small clues and Eric’s nerves. We took pictures along the way on the hike and at the top of the mountain, still not having any idea. It wasn’t until we stopped on the way back down the mountain that we all pulled together to take one last shot. As Eric and I took one last photo together (directed by my mom), I started walking away as he pulled my hand back, already down on one knee with the ring out. I don’t remember a word he said but I was completely and utterly shocked, yelling “what?!?!” about 12 times (yes, there is a video and we counted). Come to find out Eric and my Mom planned the entire trip and schedule of events! It was such a dream come true and I loved having my family there to celebrate with us and enjoy the moment together <3

Now fast forward to our wedding day!

My wedding vision came easy to me, I’m a full-time graphic designer and I had some ideas from the very beginning about what I was looking for. I had already designed numerous other wedding materials for friends so now that I was my turn, I had an established vision long before we got engaged, hehe.

I would explain my wedding style as classic and romantic with a mixture of modern and my own personal design touch. I wanted a light, bright and airy feeling throughout the day. I designed and created all of our print pieces and wedding signage, including our wedding invitations. Let me tell you, designing for yourself is not as easy as it seems, but it made everything that much more special and meaningful when we saw everything come together on our big day. It felt so much harder to be my own client, but so good to be completely satisfied with things that you make for yourself that are appreciated by others. There was an extra magical touch when we walked into our venue and ceremony with my custom designed (and some handmade) print pieces. I could not be happier with how everything came together!

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to stick to white, greenery and eucalyptus with mix-matched blue bridesmaids dresses. As a designer, I tend to get bored of colors quickly so I tried to keep a simple color palette. Who doesn’t love white florals and greenery? Our flowers and floral elements came out fantastic! To add some pop of color, I had my bridesmaids wear different shades of blue and I let them pick their dress style from the Jenny Yoo bridesmaids line. I wanted them to all be comfortable and feel like themselves. I loved the different shades of blue and how they complimented each other with the guys who were wearing navy and grey. Joey (Eric’s son) was so excited to have a matching suit – “Just like Dad’s, right??” — and it was so cute to see them together all day.

Our ceremony/ceremony site was our favorite part of the day, besides ya know actually marrying the love of my life . With the pouring rain in the morning, the outside ceremony was the only situation that was uncontrollable. I always envisioned an outdoor wedding, in the grass and with white chairs, everyone close and intimate. My mom found Clark Chapel in Pomfret and as soon as we stepped foot onto the property – it took our breath away. The grounds were beautiful and most importantly, the ivy on the chapel was drop dead gorgeous, it was everything I was looking for (thanks Mom!!). However, they had never had an outdoor ceremony before, but after some convincing and reassurance that it would all come together – we got the go-ahead and it came together beautifully! The chapel created such a special surrounding for Eric and I with our closest family and friends; we had that close and intimate feeling after all. The atmosphere was so energetic and we could feel the love and excitement from all over, but it was also very serene and calm at the same time. The weather ended up being perfect and the sun was shining bright, our loved ones from above were really pulling some strings and looking down on us.

Our day was everything we hoped it would be, and more. It felt like we were floating around the entire night; it all seemed too surreal and too perfect to be actually happening. We also danced the ENTIRE night away and, come to think of it, I don’t think I missed dancing to one song! I would relive this night forever. All of our vendors were hands-down fantastic! We were surrounded by so much love and so much happiness. We are so, so lucky.”
