Kim & Matt had the most stunning wedding at OceanCliff, an elegant Newport wedding venue. I absolutely love capturing special moments in this picturesque location. OceanCliff is one of the most popular venues in Newport, hosting countless weddings each year, and it’s easy to see why! Kim & Matt were so much fun to work with! They wanted some creative shots, including motion blur and direct flash images, which added a unique touch to their photos. Playing around with these techniques was a blast, and the results were simply amazing.
Getting Ready at Newport Lofts
We began our coverage at Newport Lofts, a stylish, cozy place for everyone to get ready. I stayed with the bride and her bridal party, capturing all those lovely pre-wedding moments, while the other photographer stayed with the groom. Those getting-ready photos turned out gorgeous, and I loved the bride jumping for joy on the bed!
The Trolley
The bridesmaids and groomsmen prepared to leave for OceanCliff via the trolley. The trolley was such a fun and unique mode of transportation, adding a bit of charm to the day. It also helped us avoid a lot of the traffic! Groom and groomsmen headed out first, snapping pics on the way, to be at OceanCliff early so as not to see the bride before the first look.
The First Look at OceanCliff, a Newport Wedding Venue
The couple’s first look took place on the lawn at OceanCliff, with breathtaking views of the water, sailboats, and the bridge in the background. This moment was so beautiful and emotional, and the photos turned out incredible. This is where the documentary approach really shines – we get to capture the beautiful moments as they unfold right before our eyes.
Kim & Matt’s Beautiful Wedding Day in the Newport Wedding Venue
After the first look and all the wedding party photos, it was time for the ceremony. The ceremony took place on the lawn with the stunning Newport scenery and waterfront as the backdrop. It was a touching and heartfelt ceremony, as Kim & Matt were surrounded by their loved ones.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour, mingling and taking in the beautiful views. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful. Then the reception kicked off, followed by the couple’s first dance and some lovely toasts. It was such a joyous celebration filled with lots of love and dancing! We wrapped up the night with some creative direct flash and night shots. These photos have such a cool and modern vibe, and the couple loved them.
Planning Your OceanCliff, Newport Wedding
Whether you’re planning your big day at the OceanCliff or anywhere else in Newport, you have to keep in mind that the area gets EXTREMELY busy during the high season. You definitely need to plan your transportation and lodging in advance. Traffic can be a real headache, but this couple’s choice to use a trolley was a fantastic idea. It added a fun element to the day and helped avoid the stress of navigating traffic.
