Emily and Eric’s downtown Mystic CT wedding day was so beautiful and perfect in every way! This quaint coastal town is the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding, especially for couples looking for walkable locations, waterfront views, and a laid-back atmosphere. From the moment they saw each other during their first look, all the way to the intimate reception at The Engine Room, their day was nothing short of magical.
First Look at the Mystic Museum of Art
The day started with Emily and Eric’s private first look, set along the water behind the Mystic Museum of Art. This spot was perfect—not only because of its peaceful setting but also because of the stunning waterfront views with boats floating by.
Emily looked breathtaking in her off-the-shoulder gown, and Eric’s expression said it all the moment he saw her. The flowing veil added that extra touch of elegance (and gave us some incredible shots). Honestly… these moments are always some of my favorites!
Ceremony at Mystic Congregational Church
After their first look, we strolled back to the couple’s nearby Airbnb for a few more portraits before heading to Mystic Congregational Church for the ceremony. Everything was within walking distance, making the day so easy and stress-free. I loved how this Mystic CT wedding focused on simplicity—no worrying about parking or shuttling guests across town!
Emily and Eric’s ceremony at the church was intimate and emotional, with all of their closest family and friends surrounding them. After they said their vows, the couple exited to an eco-friendly ribbon exit. Let me just say… this was such a fun and beautiful way to involve all the guests, without the mess of confetti or rice. Everyone waved their ribbons in the air as Emily and Eric walked out, smiles and laughter filling the air.
A Vintage Getaway with Eric’s Chevy Camaro
One of the standout moments of the day was Eric’s surprise “something blue”—his vintage Chevy Camaro. After their ribbon exit, the couple hopped into the beautifully restored car and headed out to take some more photos with that nostalgic flair. We even got permission to photograph down by the dock, which added a perfect coastal vibe to the photos!
Reception at The Engine Room
The reception took place at The Engine Room, a cozy yet sophisticated venue tucked away in downtown Mystic, CT. This spot is a hidden gem for intimate weddings, with space for a seated dinner and an open dance floor. When guests arrived, they were greeted with welcome drinks and outdoor games, setting a fun and relaxed tone for the evening. The venue’s industrial-chic decor, combined with personal touches like toy fire trucks at each table (a nod to the firehouse where the couple first met), made the space feel so special.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the couple’s attention to detail in making their guests feel welcome. From the thoughtful planning of Abby at Aventz Co. to the smooth coordination of events, everything came together seamlessly. Working with both Abby and the staff at The Engine Room was a pleasure—they treated everyone (vendors included!) with such kindness and respect. Plus, the couple planned their timeline with enough flexibility to capture those must-have family and couple photos, as well as those sweet candid moments.
